TRAME Unveils Personalized Mirrors at ICFF

Post Image

TRAME, a renowned multidisciplinary design studio, has once again showcased its innovative approach to blending traditional craftsmanship with modern technology. At this year’s ICFF, TRAME unveiled the “Portraits” collection by Martin Grasser, part of their Craft Nouveau series. This collection of customizable mirrors stands as a testament to the studio’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of design and technology.

Grasser’s “Portraits” collection epitomizes the intersection of art, design, and technology. Each mirror in the collection is created using generative algorithms, translating names, words, or phrases into intricate patterns of shapes and colors. This unique process results in highly personalized pieces that engage viewers on multiple levels, incorporating text, form, color, and reflection. The innovative use of technology to generate these designs highlights TRAME’s dedication to redefining what a design art studio can achieve.

TRAME aims to invite everyone into the process of creating generative art and design, sparking curiosity about the techniques we use,” Grasser explains. This ethos was on full display at ICFF, where attendees had the opportunity to interact with the algorithms, co-creating their own customized mirrors. This hands-on experience demonstrated TRAME’s “Generative Interiors” concept, which seeks to transform traditional design paradigms into more personalized and engaging experiences.

The launch of the “Portraits” collection at ICFF followed its initial reveal in Paris earlier this year, in collaboration with Art Blocks Engine. This strategic rollout underscores TRAME’s vision of integrating generative design into various landscapes, including residential, contract, and hospitality sectors. By blending the influences of traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology, TRAME continues to challenge and expand the possibilities of modern design.

In addition to the mirrors, TRAME showcased new colorways of their ENLACE chair at ICFF. These pieces further exemplify the studio’s ability to harmonize traditional techniques with modern aesthetics, creating designs that are both functional and artistically compelling. The ENLACE chair, with its vibrant woven patterns and sleek wooden frames, serves as a perfect example of TRAME’s multidisciplinary approach.

Participating in the International Contemporary Furniture Fair is a significant milestone for TRAME, marking their commitment to innovation and excellence in design. As Ismail Tazi, founder of TRAME, notes, “It underscores our commitment to pushing the boundaries of design and showcasing the transformative power of ‘Generative Interiors’ in shaping the future of living environments.”

The success of TRAME at ICFF is a testament to their status as a leading design art studio. Their ability to combine traditional craftsmanship with advanced technology positions them at the forefront of contemporary design. The Design Gallery setting at ICFF provided the perfect backdrop for TRAME to showcase their innovative pieces, highlighting the studio’s unique approach to design.

For those interested in exploring the intersection of technology and traditional craftsmanship, TRAME offers a glimpse into the future of personalized design. Their work not only redefines the role of a multidisciplinary design studio but also sets a new standard for the integration of art, design, and technology.
