Stickbulb’s Pillar Lights: Curved Elegance

Post Image

Stickbulb’s latest venture, the Pillar Collection, marks a significant departure from their characteristic angular designs, introducing elegant curves and a focus on sustainability. Renowned for their linear LED lights crafted from salvaged wood, Stickbulb continues to redefine the relationship between design and environmental responsibility. With the Pillar Collection, they elevate wood waste from New York City’s urban forest, transforming it into exquisite lighting fixtures that blend form and function seamlessly.

The Pillar Collection is a testament to Stickbulb’s commitment to sustainable design. Co-founder and creative director Russell Greenberg emphasizes the importance of celebrating and elevating wood waste. “Pillar is our newest way to celebrate, elevate, and shed light on this beautiful, storied material and an opportunity to reimagine product design as a catalyst for positive system change,” Greenberg says. This collection serves as a reminder that even waste materials can be repurposed into stunning, functional pieces.

Handmade in Long Island City, Queens, the Pillar Collection includes a range of fixtures such as sconces, pendants, ceiling mounts, and chandeliers. Each piece is crafted from individual modules formed around an illuminated square hole within a circular wooden housing. The variety of lengths and finishes available ensures that each fixture can be customized to fit any space, embodying the essence of custom interior design. This flexibility makes Stickbulb’s creations ideal for any creative design studio looking to incorporate unique, sustainable lighting solutions into their projects.

Stickbulb’s approach to sustainability is further enhanced by their participation in a New York City wood pilot program. This initiative aims to divert wood waste created from storms, routine maintenance, and construction away from landfills. With approximately 12,500 trees removed annually from New York City, the program seeks to repurpose this waste to its highest potential. By collaborating with local partners, Stickbulb integrates these resources into their production line, demonstrating the potential for a city-wide sustainable solution. This dedication to environmental responsibility aligns with the principles of a multidisciplinary design studio, where innovation and sustainability go hand in hand.

The Pillar Collection offers a range of finishes, including natural, white, black, and custom options. The fixtures can be paired with matte white glass LED bulbs for a soft, warm glow or LED MR16 bulbs for spot lighting. Notably, Stickbulb’s LED fixtures are B Corp Certified and Climate Neutral Certified, reinforcing their commitment to sustainability. These certifications highlight Stickbulb’s dedication to creating products that are not only beautiful but also environmentally conscious, a key consideration for any custom product.

The Pillar Collection was showcased at ICFF, highlighting its potential to transform any space. With its customizable configurations and sustainable ethos, the collection is poised to make a significant impact on custom interior design trends. Stickbulb’s dedication to repurposing wood waste into stunning lighting fixtures demonstrates their innovative spirit and commitment to sustainability.
