Lola Chair: A Burst of Personality and Comfort

Post Image

The Lola Chair, a creation by Margot Barolo for Scandinavian Spaces, brings a fresh burst of personality to interiors while ensuring comfort. This guest and dining chair has already received accolades like the 2023 Best of Year Award from Interior Design Magazine, a MetropolisLikes Award from Metropolis Magazine, and a HiP Award at NeoCon.

Barolo describes Lola as a chair that wants to be your friend, offering comfort, fun, and reliability. Named after one of Barolo’s relatives who inspired the design, Lola features upholstered folds and joint articulation, blending casual and cool elements seamlessly.

The chair’s journey began with Barolo’s involvement in The Kinship Method, an experimental collaborative project she founded. Together with four other designers, they explored creative methods that deviated from conventional production norms, focusing on form, structure, and results. This approach led to new expressions in technical, artistic, and sustainable realms, reshaping the developmental process of furniture design.

Despite a clear beginning, the chair underwent numerous prototypes and years of research before completion. The frame was adjusted several times to ensure durability and comfort, with sustainability being a primary focus. Lola’s design is fully circular, allowing all parts to be separated and recycled.
