Fusion of Living & Work: Mara’s Designer Collabs

Post Image

In a remarkable display of innovative design, Mara recently debuted four new collections in collaboration with renowned international designers. The brand’s presence at the prestigious Salone del Mobile Milano was accentuated by a striking display installation by Ferruccio Laviani. Alongside Laviani, other acclaimed designers such as Michele de Lucchi (AMDL Circle), Christophe Pillet, and Marcello Ziliani contributed their expertise to complement Mara’s vision. This collaboration showcased groundbreaking techniques, including never-before-seen steel-bending methods, tables with sliding tops, modular bookcases, and the iconic Mara chair, all interwoven to bring about ‘The Fusion of Living and Working Spaces’. This concept underscores the brand’s renewed identity, which harmonizes the office and residential dimensions.

The highlight of the unveiling was the unprecedented Typo chair, a remarkable creation resulting from Mara’s collaboration with AMDL Circle. This chair challenges the traditional office chair with its unique design and incorporation of innovative steel-profile bending techniques. The deliberate and refined creases on the frame, achieved through bending the steel tube diagonally, create a distinct aesthetic. Typo was also showcased at Salone del Mobile in a special Limited Edition, in collaboration with Alpi.

Continuing the trend of pushing boundaries, Christophe Pillet’s collaboration with Mara gave birth to the Foil table. These tables redefine the archetype of contemporary metal tables with their minimal thicknesses, discreet perimeter frames, and the integration of Mara’s mechanisms, allowing easy movement of the top to reveal hidden storage space.

Ferruccio Laviani’s Elle bookcase system, another remarkable contribution to Mara’s fusion concept, stands as a testament to lightness and modular versatility. The ‘L’ element that shapes the shelves allows for various compositions, creating both closed shapes for storage and open shapes for visible shelving. This sophisticated bookcase system seamlessly caters to different spatial requirements.

Designer Marcello Zilliani expanded on Mara’s highly successful Icon seating family by introducing new versions. The addition of a polypropylene shell to the Icon chair makes it ideal for office, contract, and outdoor use, due to its durability and resistance. The newly introduced Icon High-back takes the armchair to a higher level with a padded backrest and seat cushion, creating a more welcoming and comfortable experience for prolonged use.

Completing the collection, Mara’s iconic Follow table series, characterized by its patented mechanical height adjustment system, remains a testament to the brand’s commitment to functionality and innovation. The Follow Meeting Cone impresses with its soft design and sculptural conical base, while the Follow Break offers practicality and versatility in compact dimensions. The Libro table collection’s intuitive closing system allows even large tables to be folded to just 40 cm, while the monochromatic and monomaterial versions provide a sleek and contemporary aesthetic.

Mara’s fusion of living and working spaces, as revealed through these collaborations, showcases the latest furniture trends and custom interior design. From the use of innovative materials to the incorporation of unique functionalities, each piece brings a touch of sophistication and practicality to both residential and office settings. With these four collections, Mara not only expands its portfolio but also sets a new standard for furniture design that seamlessly integrates with modern lifestyles.
